Q. What is the difference between household glove and industrial nitrile glove?
A.

Household glove is made from natural rubber, usually use for cleaning purpose, food processing, and general household use.

Industrial nitrile glove is made from synthetic rubber copolymer of acrylonitrile (ACN) and butadiene, usually use for protection against solvents, oil, fats and bleaching chemical agents.

Q. How can I find suitable glove if I use certain type of solvents?
A.

Rubberex’s Chemical Resistance Chart contains the performance of protective glove which has tested with 100 commonly used chemicals. It is downloadable at individual protective glove webpage.

Q. What is CE marking?
A.

The CE marking (also known as CE mark) is a mandatory conformance mark on many products placed on the single market in the European Economic Area (EEA). The CE marking certifies that a product has met EU consumer safety, health or environmental requirements.

Q. What if I have skin allergies to glove?
A.

If you experience allergies symptoms when using natural rubber latex gloves, stop using the gloves and contact your doctor.

Q. What are the common symptoms?
A.
  • Red itchy eyes
  • Sudden and continuous sneezing and a runny nose
  • Sudden coughing especially combined with itchy eyes
  • A rash or hives
  • Tightness on the chest and shortness of breath.
  • A sudden (itchy) rash on the hands
  • Cracks in the skin on the hands
  • Raised areas of red skin on the hands

Q. How long are the shelf lives of Rubberex natural rubber gloves?
A. Rubberex gloves have a shelf life of three years if kept in its original unopened carton unexposed to UV light and stored in a cool and dry storage away from ozone emitting machines.

Q. How does one maximize the efficient lifespan of natural rubber gloves?
A. The lifespan of the gloves may vary for different applications and also affected by the duration of use. Whatever the limiting conditions, a good housekeeping practice of giving the gloves a good rinse with clean water/detergent after use and allowing them to dry in a cool and dry place. Never dry the gloves directly above heating radiators.

Q. Are there any allergy connected with the usage of gloves?
A. A very small percentage of the population does have an allergy to the natural latex proteins inherent with natural rubber. Thus any product made of natural rubber could cause one with such an allergy to have an adverse reaction to them. Some common symptoms of such reactions are skin irritations or itchiness. Anybody experiencing such symptoms should consult their doctors as soon as possible. Persons who are known to be allergic to natural rubber products are recommended to avoid using natural rubber gloves and switch instead to gloves made of a synthetic rubber like nitrile or neoprene.

Q. Are all skin irritations due to latex proteins allergy?
A. No. Some chemicals like rubber accelerators, antioxidants and anti bacteria sanitizing agents are added to the gloves production process to impart desirable properties to the finished glove. The residue of these chemicals can sometimes result in “delayed subcutaneous hypersensitivity”, the symptoms of which include localized skin irritation or a rash, typically appearing several hours (6-48) after using the glove.

We recommend users consult their doctors to determine what chemical is causing their condition. In all cases, switching to another type of glove can often solve the problem.

Skin irritations and allergies are always more likely if the gloves have not been properly washed or fully processed.

Rubberex production processes are designed to have the well-being of the users’ hands uppermost in our minds. After proper washing and treating the gloves, residual allergens and irritants are brought down to minimal levels.

Q. How do I select the most appropriate gloves for my application?
A. As a general guideline, you must determine the most critical parameters required of the gloves to withstand the most. Some types of gloves are noted for their mechanical resistance properties while the specialty of the others lies in the excellent chemical resistant qualities. If in doubt, please contact us and our technical experts would be more than pleased to assist you. Also you can refer to the safety officers of your company for the correct gloves for your application.
